HANOI, May 16, 2025 — As part of the ongoing cooperation between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Petrovietnam, the Department of Science, Technology & Digital Transformation hosted a specialized seminar entitled 'Digital Technologies to facilitate Green Energy and Industries.' The event, held on May 16, underscored Petrovietnam's commitment to both national energy security and the broader shift toward a greener, more sustainable energy future.

Amid a rapidly evolving global energy landscape, the imperative to adopt clean energy solutions and sustainable industrial practices is intensifying. The seminar highlighted how cutting-edge digital technologies-including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Big Data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are not just enhancing operations, but serving as transformative forces across the energy value chain.

The event opened with keynote addresses from Mr. Tran Binh Minh, Member of the Board of Members at Petrovietnam (PVN), and Mr. Eric Yeo, General Director of AWS Vietnam-Indochina. Both speakers emphasized the critical role of digital transformation in ensuring energy resilience, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability. The morning session also featured insights from international experts who shared best practices in innovation culture, enterprise restructuring, and digital strategy implementation.

The afternoon was structured into three focused panel sessions. The Upstream panel session spotlighted technologies designed to enhance exploration and production performance. AWS presented its Energy Data Insight (EDI) solution, leveraging AI/ML for real-time operational intelligence. A standout feature was the Agentic Workflow (Agents4Energy), an AI-powered system that supports decision-making in well planning, predictive maintenance, and reservoir management. Additional highlights included: automated real-time drilling solutions & Production optimization via smart monitoring platforms from partner Xecta, and digital hand-over from EPC contractors to Owners/Operators, showcased by Hexagon.

The Midstream and Downstream one focused on oil refining, chemicals, and energy utilities. This session demonstrated how digital platforms are transforming big data into actionable insights. GE Vernova’s Proficy platform enables real-time data-driven decision-making. AVEVA shared Asset Performance Management (APM) solutions for increased reliability.Aerodyne unveiled drone-based AI infrastructure monitoring, supporting automation, risk mitigation, and compliance with OGMP 2.0 standards.

The other line of business highlighted Cloud, AI, and beyond. This session explored how cloud technologies unlock new efficiencies and innovations. FIS Global – Energy & Commodities introduced integrated platforms for trading, risk control, and regulatory compliance.

Discussions on AI security in the GenAI era covered critical issues such as prompt injection, data poisoning, and model extraction threats. Cognite’s Data Fusion solution was presented as a key enabler for system integration and operational optimization. HoloMe, by Malaysia-based ByondAsia, showcased hyper-realistic digital humans as a novel interface for human-AI interaction.

The seminar brought together over 100 attendees representing Petrovietnam’s departments and 21 subsidiaries, along with participants from various countries.
