Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan calls for faster progress on two key highways in Phu Tho

On August 8, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan met with Phu Tho leaders to review two major transport projects: upgrading National Highway 2 (Vinh Yen – Viet Tri) and renovating National Highway 6 to bypass the old center of Hoa Binh City.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan urged the province to continue reviewing and clearly assigning land clearance responsibilities to commune- and ward-level authorities under the two-tier local government model; expedite the completion of resettlement areas; and promptly hand over cleared land to contractors.

Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan meets with Phu Tho provincial leaders on August 8 to discuss measures for expediting two key national highway projects.

The Ministry of Construction will instruct contractors to mobilize maximum manpower and equipment to accelerate construction once clean land is available, while also reporting to the Government on potential adjustments to funding sources and implementation schedules to match the realities on the ground.

The National Highway 2 upgrade and expansion project covers a length of 11.06 km, designed to Class III delta road standards with 4–6 lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h, with total investment of VND 1.258,179 billion, commune and ward level. This route is a critical transport artery connecting Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho to Hanoi and the Northern Key Economic Region, helping to ease congestion and boost socio-economic development.

The renovation and upgrade of National Highway 6, bypassing the old center of Hoa Binh City (now under Thong Nhat and Hoa Binh wards, Phu Tho Province), has a total length of 5 km and an investment of VND 473.727 billion. The project aims to meet rising transportation demand, enhance traffic safety, and shorten travel time along the route.

According to the provincial leaders, the main challenge is land clearance, with some areas still facing issues related to resettlement and legal procedures. Phu Tho authorities have committed to intensifying coordination with relevant agencies to ensure timely completion while maintaining quality standards.

Once completed, these two national highway projects are expected to significantly improve Phu Tho’s transport infrastructure, strengthen regional connectivity, support socio-economic growth, improve residents’ quality of life, and create momentum for attracting investment to the northern midland and mountainous region.
